How High? Shanghai (Part 2)

Title credited to Ellie Bush (2013, available from http://eleanorbush.wordpress.com/) Promised I'd reference her!

OK so last night was a bit of a big one, so I was happy to wake up fairly ok. I jumped in the shower and my towel fell and got soaked through, not the best way to start the day. I went down to breakfast and got a fry up.  It was GOOD! However after finishing I was hit by the full force of the hang over.Ouch. So I was not feeling great but nevertheless went out with Mark, Kathryn and Laura to see Shanghai in the sun!

We headed back towards the Bund to hopefully see the other half of the building that was covered in cloud the day before. We were in luck! It was staggeringly beautiful! The pink tower is the Oriental Pearl Tower (468m) and the one that looks like a huge bottle opener is the Shanghai World Financial Centre (492m).

We decided to take the Bund Sightseeing Tunnel to the other side of the river then go up the Oriental Pearl Tower. Now this was rather expensive costing us 220RMB (£22) but it was worth it! The underground sightseeing tunnel was odd to say the least, it was basically a light show that we watched from a kind of carriage. It was weird.

Anyway we emerged out the other exit and headed towards the Oriental Pearl Tower. We joined the queue and soon we were heading up in a tightly packed lift up 263m to the highest observation deck (there was another higher but it cost another 100RMB), my ears popped and everything! The view was incredible.

We then went down to the lower observation deck which is made entirely see through so you get a lot of vertigo as you are suspended above a 259m drop, great fun!

From there we joined the queue to go back down the tower, so yes another packed lift! By this point I was feeling very ill and so I headed back home to try and sleep it off.

I still was feeling awful when the others got back, they tried to make sure i ate something but all i could manage was a few spoonfuls of soup. Not nice.
