Dragon Boat Festival Part 1

Dragonboat time!

Well first of all I would like to let you all know that I am feeling much better! The medicine seems to work and I'm very nearly back to my old self!

Sunday

Sunday morning we were invited to the office for a Chinese lesson (the 4th we've had since being here I might add...). We turned up, well Cecilia, Mike and I turned up because Will wasn't ready yet. We arrived and they told us they were too busy to give us a Chinese lesson! We got up and out of bed early for nothing! Of course they made us wait an hour and a half for Michael Li to turn up because we needed to know the arrangements for the next day's trip to Qinghai Hu! While we were waiting, I basically planned my trip to Xi'an, I hope to fly there on 29th June and back on 1st July! Exciting times!!!

Anyway Michael Li eventually turned up and told us that Matthew would be picking us up at 7am the next day to drive us to the lake. Brilliant...

Cecilia and I went to Cafe Java for lunch (a salad and a bagel), it took stupidly long though...

In the afternoon I had been invited to Gu Chengtai to attend their Dragonboat Festival celebrations. The teacher made it sound as if it were just going to be me and some students but it was a proper performance! I brought Cecilia and Mike (Will and Deena joined us later) and we were their guests of honour! We got a free gift and a handmade card!

The dancing and singing were fantastic and we even got to get up and make 粽子 (Zongzi) which are little pyramids of sticky, sweet rice with raisons and dried fruit. It was great fun and I wasn't too bad at it (Mike was awful).

Naturally we were asked to perform at the end... A game of simon says with the whole auditorium! We then Boom Sh Boomed, we did the Llama song and we even sang 'We Will Rock You'. We are superstars. I LOVE MY JOB!

Now it was raining once more so we headed to Greenhouse for a hot drink and some food. I wasn't feeling very well again so I headed home early with Cecilia.
