And so it REALLY begins

Nice short one today guys as I am very tired (and maybe a little bit hungover)!

Last night was Chinese New Year so naturally there was a party! The hostel was rammed with people (most of them interns like me) so it was nice getting to meet new people and have a drink with them! I had one too many pints of the local lager so spent the end of the evening in an embrace with the toilet... My fault entirely but I had a good time nonetheless. I didn't even make it to midnight sadly but I heard the fireworks were incredible, they certainly sounded good!
Chinese New Year in the Happy Dragon

Woke up  this morning with a rather unpleasant hangover and started to sort myself out ready to check out of the Happy Dragon. We were going to get a taxi to the Civil Aviation Management Institute on the other side of Beijing but quickly realised that there were no taxis o the road due to the public holiday! After much persuasion TTC sent a coach to pick us up (there were 30 of us in that one hostel!). We made it though!

The room is very nice, sharing it with a guy called Eddy who seems easy enough to live with!

Went out exploring this afternoon with the guys and found a mall with a food court. Brad and I decided to go for something Chinese as opposed to the Western places, we got dumplings (usually a safe bet) and very quickly discovered that they were bathed in chilli! Quite possibly the spiciest thing I've ever eaten. We could only manage half of it before giving up and heading to Subway (a safe bet). I regret nothing! I got some toffee strawberries which were lovely and sticky.

Tomorrow our orientation begins, we have breakfast between 7 and 8 and then straight into the thick of it. Needless to say many of us are not looking forward to the early start!

Until next time!
