Less Than One Week To Go!

Hello lovely people!

I have spent the last week visiting friends around Plymouth, Bristol and London, bidding them farewell because in no less than 6 days my adventure will begin! That is right! I fly on 7th and land in Beijing on the morning of the 8th! When I get there I will be jumping into a taxi and desperately trying to communicate to him where I need to go; in this case the Happy Dragon hostel to meet some of the other interns.

Now communication! Skype will be the easiest way for you all to get hold of me when I am in China but please remember that I will be 8 hours ahead of you and working long hours on weekdays! That being said you can leave me messages on Skype which I can pick up when I get a break! I will also have a Chinese SIM so will be able to receive calls on it however this will be expensive for you!

In other news, I finally received my visa yesterday which was a massive weight off my mind. Now all there is to do is pack! I am about halfway packed, though its bound to be a mad rush before I leave on Thursday!

I have been having some interesting conversations having shown my friends this video. It shows the Beijing night market and some rather interesting foods! I have been asked whether or not I would try them and all I can say is HELL YES! I have been raised to try everything once and I intend to fling myself fully into their culinary curiosities and take pictures to share with you lot.

Some have asked me whether or not I would eat dog and it certainly made me think. For those of you who don't know, I have a chocolate lab-cocker spaniel cross, called Buster and he is brilliant. However in China dogs aren't kept as pets, they are food to feed their gigantic population. Although I don't think I would go out looking for dog, I would probably eat it as long as I managed to convince myself that it was meat. However watch this space!!

Now the final thing I wanted to talk about was the name of this here blog, I wanted something more exciting and funnier than 'Huw's China Challenge'. I wanted to call it 'The China Monologues' but sadly someone got there first! I've toyed around with 'Kung-Huw' but it doesn't seem right. So here I am opening it up to you guys! Please send me your name suggestions and I will choose the best! (huw_from_oz@hotmail.com)
